25+ Innovative DNA Apps Are Here to Offer You Amazing Opportunities

DNA National Human Genome Research Institute

Sequencing.com launched globally in September 2016 and is offering genetic apps that will coach people to living a better and healthier lifestyle. The platform includes an App Market that allows individuals, researchers, bioinformaticians and healthcare professionals to tap into genetic data for deep and rich insights. Apps are provided by Titanovo, Inc., a groundbreaking personal genomics company.

This is the world's first agnostic platform for genetic data, meaning it operates seamlessly using the genetic data produced by any genetic test including DNA microarrays, whole genome sequencing and exome sequencing. This means that data from companies that provide genetic testing such as Helix, 23andMe, Ancestry.com and National Geographic can be used with all of the apps in the App Market. There are over 25 apps currently available that use a person's genetic data to generate actionable wellness information. The innovative apps use a carefully curated and ever-expanding database of scientific publications on the associations between genes and lifestyle.

There are DNA apps for heart health, preventing arthritis, aging strong, breast cancer prevention, skin health, and more, including the DNA Diet Coach and the DNA Fitness Coach apps. The DNA Diet Coach allows a person to determine his or her optimal diet for weight loss as well as other dietary advice such as a person's ideal amounts of vitamins, nutrients, and macronutrients to consume daily. The app also analyzes whether certain foods should be avoided like gluten, dairy, caffeine, and alcohol. Nutritional insights are provided to each person based on the individual's genes as well as the individual's dietary habits including vegetarian, paleo or Mediterranean diets.

Additionally, the DNA Diet Coach can be integrated with Titanovo's telomere length test, which measures telomeres, a biomarker that becomes shorter with poor health and age. A person may test his or her telomere length and vitamin/nutrient deficiencies simultaneously - then follow their nutritional progress on the genomic level with subsequent telomere length testing.

The DNA Fitness Coach app builds upon scientific research that genetic analysis can help create a more effective fitness regimen. This includes information about a person's optimal balance between cardio exercise and weight training. It caters to people at all levels of fitness.

There’s also an interesting app called Weather My Way. This is not your ordinary weather app. It provides "personalized guidance for a healthier day by analyzing your genes and the weather, together." If you haven’t had your DNA tested and don’t have access to your genetic data you can still use this app. Could be fun! Download it from the App Store or Google Play. When you sign into the app for the first time you’ll need to register and activate your account or login if you already have an account with Sequencing.com. Go to the Menu then Settings to select from a variety of sample genomes from real people. Once you do you will be able to start viewing the genetically tailored forecast.

"Within the next 8 years, we expect that between 100 million and 2 billion human genomes will be sequenced. Sequencing.com has been preparing for this inevitability by creating solutions that unlock the true value of genetic data," asserted Dr. Brandon Colby, a medical doctor, author of Outsmart Your Genes and Sequencing.com's Founder and CEO. "Our unique platform provides the ability for everyone to keep their genetic data safe while also being able to use it on a daily basis to personalize and improve their lives." Free and unlimited genetic data storage is provided by Sequencing.com and the website is HIPAA and Privacy Shield compliant. The user owns their data, so it stays confidential and won't be sold to third parties. A person can easily upload and store genetic data into his or her own private account.

"The genetic revolution has already begun, and it is having far-reaching effects on healthcare right now," said Dr. Colby in a statement about Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) technology. "Our knowledge of how to use this information is increasing at an exponential rate. What this means is that we can now start to integrate genetics into our everyday lives.
