If your social security card is ever lost, stolen, or damaged, you can get it replaced quickly and securely by going online. There's no driving to the local Social Security office, no waiting in line, and no paperwork. It's easy to get your free replacement social security card online from the comfort of home. The online card replacement service is available to residents in most states.
Don't pay service providers who want to charge you a fee to obtain your replacement card. You can get up to three free replacement cards a year and ten during your lifetime. Legal name changes don't count towards your card limit. A change in immigration status that requires card updates may not count toward these limits. You aren't affected by these limits if you can prove you need the card to prevent a significant hardship.

Once your identity is verified, your request is complete. Your replacement social security card should make its way to your mailbox 10-14 days (about two weeks) after the processing date.
