Stream Thousands of Free Videos on Your Mobile Device or TV

How to stream thousands of free videos on your computer, mobile device, or TV.

Millions of public library members now have greater access to free movies, documentaries, and TV shows. That’s right. With a library card you may be able to stream free videos from Kanopy. Thousands of them! Kanopy started out selling DVDs to Australian universities in 2008. They’ve expanded to public libraries in North America and the UK. Their emphasis is on education and you’ll also find blockbusters, must-see classics, and more.

Get Started

Go here to find out if your library offers Kanopy. If so, register with your library card. Next, download Kanopy’s iOS or Android app. Follow the easy 3-step process to get started streaming free videos. Libraries have limits to the number of free movies people can watch per month. Once registered, you’ll be able to see and keep track of your limit.

Other Options

Besides being able to watch videos on your smartphone or tablet, you can watch with a web browser or on television with Roku. If you're not familiar with Roku, it's a digital media player that lets you stream videos and music.
