Millions of public library patrons now have greater access to free movies, documentaries, and TV shows. With a library card you may be able to stream thousands of free videos from Kanopy. Kanopy started out selling DVDs to Australian universities in 2008. They’ve expanded to public libraries in North America and the UK. Their emphasis is on education but you’ll also find blockbusters, must-see classics, foreign films, and more.
Go here to find out if your library offers Kanopy. If so, register with your library card. Your library may have a limit on the number of free movies you can watch per month. Once registered, you’ll be able to see and keep track of your limit. If your library doesn’t offer Kanopy, send them information about the streaming video service. Let your librarians know that you’d love to have access.
